When I asked a good friend of mine who lives in Hong Kong, where to go to have dinner and try the famous Dim Sum, he told me without any hesitation about the Restaurant DinTaiFung.

When I stopped him after he mentioned that it is a one Michelin Star Restaurant, shocked that he thought I had that kind of money to spend ,he assured me that it was more than within my Budget “It is everybody’s Budget” !

That is why I decided to give it a try !

We arrived there at around 2pm and could directly enter and sit down at a table.

Without any hesitation we received a Jasmine Tea and the menu. I don’t know how the rules are in order to get a Michelin Star, but I always expected it was a combination between great food, quality and service.

The Dintaifung Restaurant didn’t know anything about great service. We received a list where appealingly we had to cross the numbers according to the menu, of the plates we wanted to order.

We were lucky, that the menu was also written in english, because no one of the service personal understood a word in english or was happy to help.

The menu had a lot of different Dim Sum options, noodles, soups and desserts.

The lack of service was forgotten after trying the food! It was amazing! So simple, so light and though so delicious! My favourites plates have been the steamed crab roe and pork dumplings and the sesame paste bun as dessert.

But also the noodles with spicy sesame and peanut sauce have been great! A very easy, but spicy and delicious sauce !

It was also very interesting to see, how the service organisation worked. The women were only allowed to bring the food out of the kitchen, but then had to wait close to the tables till the official waiter, took the single plates and distributed them among the tables.

The kitchen was open to see, and gave you a clear view on how the food was prepared.

All together the experience in this one Michelin Stared Restaurant is definitely worth a visit, but be prepared to wait for at least half an hour if you go there for dinner.

We liked the food so much, that we decided to go back another day at dinner time and found this huge queue in front of it. The organisation works quite good so this 2-hour queue is done in about half an hour. but still be prepared to wait.

If you have any experience in this restaurant, I’d be happy to read it !

BeSparkling!
